After 25 hours of evaluation, Keram concluded that Aamer was suffering from severe edema which, "if left untreated, may reflect an underlying life-threatening organ or vascular dysfunction".
We saw the finished product a few years later: it looked like a house with severe edema, swollen to bursting, built to the very edge of the property line.
A team of about 10 doctors is waiting to see if the extreme swelling in her head, known as severe edema, will be reduced.
A midline laparotomy revealed severe edema of the small intestine and mesentery (Fig. 1).

In this study, systemic steroids were used in cases with severe edema, marked drop of vision, or RAPD.
