The degree of serous or mucinous content and intratumoural hemorrhage also influences the signal intensity and ADC value through their effect on restriction of free proton diffusion and magnetic susceptibility of the tumour tissue.
The content is serous with flow phenomena, appearing as characteristically shaped signal heterogeneity on T2-weighted images.
