Carol Anshaw's beautifully observed new novel, "Carry the One," begins with a terrible accident in the summer of 1983: very late at night, after Carmen and Matt's wedding, a car filled with some seriously stoned and sleepy wedding guests turns onto a two-lane road, accelerates through a dip, and then, suddenly, horribly, strikes a young girl named Casey Redman.
Although an endless supply of marijuana is available from a nearby field, the movie is too strait-laced to show its islanders getting seriously stoned.
Here's the first trailer for Netflix's new sitcom Disjointed, dropping us into the life of a seriously stoned cannabis activist and legal expert (played by Kathy Bates) running her own dispensary in Los Angeles.
