In contrast, for the Co series, the activities and selectivities were essentially insensitive to the W content.
Complementary cellular studies also showed that two of the compounds in the series inhibit the activity of MEK1/2 with IC50 values in the nanomolar range (73 97 nM).

In both sample series, the catalytic activity in methanol synthesis does not scale with the Cu surface area and the experiments show that a strong interaction to the oxide is necessary to gain stability and activity of the Cu phase.
