As an additional piece of evidence, serial additions of nitrogen fertilization in field FC in 2014 (40 120 Kg of N/ha) at the 6-leaf stage proportionally increased yield but left the yield-enhancing effect by A. lipoferum CRT1 unaltered (Fig. 1).
After three serial additions of all the four bases (A, T, G or C) at each synthetic step to a fixed five base sequence, the resultant FR primer set contains all of the possible 64 triplets attached to the fixed ATCTG sequence.
We used serial additions (final concentrations in respirometry chamber) of malate (2.5 mM) and glutamate (15 mM); ADP (1 mM); cytochrome c (10 μM) rotenone (3 μM), succinate (10 mM), malonate (5 mM), glycerol-3-phosphate (5 mM), antimycin A (4 μM), ascorbic acid (10 mM) and tetramethyl-p-phenylenediamine (TMPD, 200 μM) and KCN (1 mM).
Similarly, two studies reported impaired performance in depressed patients in the paced auditory serial addition task (PASAT) which requires working memory and additional arithmetic abilities [ 7, 26].
Information processing speed was assessed using the visual threshold serial addition test (VT-SAT), a computerized modification of the PASAT designed to assess processing speed by controlling for performance accuracy.
Objectives: (i) To expose 'normal sleepers' to a 32-h sleep deprivation protocol and evaluate the impact of this deprivation on a complex performance task i.e. the paced auditory serial addition test (PASAT).
In a single-blind repeated measures design, healthy young adults (N=17, 8 male, mean age 27 years) performed three PC-based cognitive and psychomotor function tests: a paced auditory serial addition task (PASAT), an adaptive five-choice reaction time test (CRTT), and a manual tracking test on two occasions 4 weeks apart.
This hypothesis was tested in Experiment 1: 146 Taiwanese abacus users aged 3 15, identified as either abacus learners (n = 126) or abacus experts (n = 20), were given parallel sets of serial addition and subtraction problems, matched on conventional metrics of difficulty level, but differing in the number of CN steps entailed in abacus calculation.

Better MSFC scores (Table 2) resulted from improvements in the PASAT (Paced Auditorial Serial Addition Test) and the 9-HPT (9-Hole Peg Test) subtests, while the TWT (Timed Walk Test) remained unchanged (data not shown).
While it is conceivable that further taxon addition may falsify this hypothesis in the future, the high support values for the tree in Figure 2, together with our observations in serial addition experiments, supports the basal placement of Gnetales within the gymnosperms.
