The sedimentary characteristics, secondary pore features, and diagenetic evolution sequences of the reservoirs in these SPDZs were studied based on the identification of these zones.
The diagenetic evolution sequences of the reservoirs in the SPDZs were established based on an analysis of the types and features of the diagenesis, including the texture of authigenic minerals, the metasomatism-crosscutting relationship, the dissolution-filling relationship, and the homogenization temperatures of fluid inclusions.
In the 1970s the military government dreamed of a sequence of five dams and huge reservoirs on the Xingu, which would have generated 20,000MW by displacing tens of thousands of people and flooding 18,000 square km, including Indian reserves.
Consequently, in this study we reviewed and categorized the different research strategies and, as an illustrative case-study, we considered how these approaches might apply in the analysis of environmental impacts downstream from a sequence of three major dams and reservoirs along the Snake River, the largest tributary of the Columbia River (Palmer 1991).

The permeability estimation method was based on the paragenetic sequence of diagenetic minerals and the reservoir pore-throat geometry.
The hydrocarbon charge stages were divided qualitatively based on the analysis of generation and expulsion stages of major hydrocarbon source rocks and fluorescence microscopic features (Jarmołowicz-Szulc et al. 2012); the hydrocarbon fluid inclusion forming periods were divided according to the diagenetic evolution sequence of host minerals combined with reservoir burial evolution history.
Consequently, we can see that the number of depositional sequences in reservoirs and the order of layering significantly affect the recovery processes.
We then update the reservoir over a sequence of time steps (we use six time steps, as in the original version (Nabieva et al., 2005)): R t a (u ) = R t − 1 a (u ) + ∑ v : (u, v ) ∈ E (g t a (v, u ) − g t a (u, v ) ), where g t a (v, u ) is the amount of flow a that moves from u to v at time t.
