To analyze the effect of aging on sentence auditory comprehension and to study the relationship between this language skill and cognitive functions (attention, working memory, and executive functions).
For avoiding habituation with the conditions of the test, the onset of the next sentence auditory presentation varied between 4-9 sec from the completion of the previous oral response.
The sequence of events was: sentence auditory presentation (duration 3-5 sEEG, EEG recording for 500 ms, onset of first warning stimulus (duration 100 ms) and parallel onset of ERP recording (duration 1000 ms), onset of second warning stimulus (duration 100 ms), oral response of participant after termination of second warning stimulus (for correct answer onset of response within 5 sec) (Table 1).

This response pattern is consistent with a participation in high-level phonological decoding, which would explain why there was no response to the subject's own voice or to perceiving noise or non-sentence auditory stimuli.
We therefore also provide evidence for an anatomical dissociation between sentence level auditory and visual processing, driven by the probable anatomically separable storage of the relevant long-term lexical representations.
This dataset consists of 278 English sentences, containing auditory and visual speech recorded in "newsreader" style.
However, these components were not modulated by syntactic matching of the sentence-external auditory adjective.
To control for the strengths of contextual biases in the auditory sentences, a sentence completion task was conducted, in which 36 participants (16 males and 20 females, aged between 19 24, mean age = 20.6, SD = 1.68) completed sentences based on the sentence fragments.

Figure 5 C shows auditory sentence time courses from a region in left BA 44/45 that was maximally activated for the general effect of syntactic structure on sentence comprehension and was also activated for the picture contrast (RSO RSS).
Upon picture presentation, however, the same region displays an elevated signal change only for the RSO condition (Fig. 5 D ). Figure 5 E displays auditory sentence time courses for the exact same location in Talairach space but reflected to the right hemisphere.
