A quick look at a demo version of the sensor-tracking website reveals that a handful of the little things are live in Zabala's native Barcelona — the Smart Citizen team ran an earlier, more local crowdfunding campaign (Zabala called it a "proof of concept run") that saw a number of users in Spain install and fire up their sensor arrays all around the city.
Securing Internet activity would allow China to assert control over information dissemination, to sensor sensitive websites and social media, and to stem other potential sources of unrest that could challenge CCP legitimacy.
The trouble will start when a product stops being supported – for instance, if you were to sign up for a service that offers sensors and a website to keep tabs on your baby's bedroom, but then the company goes bust.
RunKeeper CEO Jason Jacobs wants you to "imagine a system that can identify correlations between a user's eating habits, workout schedule, social interactions and more", that has the sole purpose of delivering an "ecosystem of health and fitness apps, websites, and sensor devices that really work, based on a user's own historical health and fitness data".
The trick to that is to have smart heating sensors not only monitoring how cold it is in each room, but checking the external temperature, whether from weather websites or a sensor outside.
"Due to their cost, capacitive fingerprint scanners have been limited to top-of-the-line phones, a result of the required resolution and quality of the sensor," the team said on its website.
The sensors transmit data to the Wellntel website, where customers can log in to private accounts and see their water level at various points: when pumping, after rainfall, and over time.

Because of this, the service should work well for real-time website, Internet of Things and sensor analytics, as well as for more batch-oriented big data services.

According to its website, it works by using acoustic sensors "strategically placed in a coverage area".
