This work reports a chemical solution sensitization of HgS nanocrystals on mesoporous TiO2 films for different deposition times.
Owing to higher residual strain, as revealed by local misorientation analysis, the cold-worked specimen showed maximum degree of sensitization (higher than solution-annealed condition) at surface.
Furthermore, the effects of important reaction parameters (type of reducing agent, metal precursor, concentration of the sensitization and activation solutions) on the seeding properties (particle size, shape and density) are evaluated extensively.
The coating process was performed in few steps consisting of the SiC powder cleaning by acetone, its sensitization by HCl aqueous solution containing Sn2+, followed by its activation by HCl aqueous solution containing Pd2+, and finally—hydrometallurgical nickel deposition using aqueous solution containing Ni2+, as a nickel carrier.
