Importantly, kinins cause a cascade of secondary changes, including prostanoid and nitric oxide production, phosphorylation of signaling proteins such as PKC, and the sensitization of sensory transducers such as the transient receptor potential vanilloid (TRPV 1 receptor [ 27].
Life stresses and the sensitization to such stresses have long been suspected of playing important roles in the onset of depression [ 17].
