The most relevant finding here is the reduction in KYNA levels, which, within the context of an enhanced release of glutamate might contribute to a hyperactivity of NMDA receptors resulting into nociceptive sensitization in CH.
As discussed earlier, with increase of sensitization time, the optical absorption spectra as shown in Fig. 4a clearly show an enhanced loading of the sensitizer into the photoelectrodes, which is evident from the improved optical absorption in the visible region.
