DRIFT-I is the world's first WIMP dark matter detector with sensitivity to the direction of nuclear recoils.
The signals are filtered and weighted so as to form a beam of enhanced sensitivity in the direction of the desired source and to attenuate sounds from other directions.
The DRIFT concept offers high background discrimination and sensitivity to the direction of WIMP-induced nuclear recoils, the latter being of particular importance in the search for evidence of WIMPs in our galaxy.
Direct measurement of brain activity has also revealed early risk-group differences in response to face stimuli [ 22] and in sensitivity to the direction of eye gaze [ 10].
The P1, N290, and the P400 components, quantified by their amplitude or latency, are modulated in a number of face-perception tasks, including tests of sensitivity to the direction of eye gaze in infants as young as four months [ 16].
This echoes a recent study by Falkenberg et al. (2014) showing that sampling, and not internal noise, limits the development of sensitivity to the direction of grating stimuli in children aged 5 14 years.
This pattern primarily reflects the decreased starch cleavage rate, leading to roughly 100-fold lower stromal maltose (240 vs. 2.3 μM), but approximately the same cytosolic maltose (110 vs. 130 mM) concentrations, lower flux through the DPE2 reaction, and a greater sensitivity to the direction of the DPE2 and hexokinase reactions.
ESPI displacement calculations are based on recording a phase shift of a laser wavefront created by the deformation of the specimen surface [ Eq. (1)], and by considering the sensitivity direction of the optical set-up, the displacement vectors can be calculated [ Eq. (2)].
None of the sensitivity analyses changed the direction, magnitude, or statistical significance of our findings; therefore, we report only our prespecified analyses.
The crosses with the silencing affected lines (PNA 1.2, PNA 10.1 and ICE 4.4) all showed high levels of hygromycin sensitivity, independent of the direction of the cross revealing equal inheritance of the silenced allele through both female and male gametes (Additional file 5).
