The project, which aims to replace the microwave links between Jodrell Bank and a number of other radio telescopes with high-bandwidth fibre-optic cables, greatly increasing the sensitivity of observations, is seen as critical to the survival of the establishment in its present form.
A lower sensitivity of observations to underlying fluxes is found during the summer relative to winter, due to mixing in a deeper planetary boundary layer and/or stronger convention.
This suggests that the lack of detectability seen in the summer is in fact due to the compounding effects of not only biospheric fluxes and atmospheric transport-related errors, but also the reduced sensitivity of observations to fluxes during the summer.

This method, named LETOPID, focuses on the measurement of two main parameters: (i) the alteration of topographic relief and (ii) the sensitivity of observation conditions, both making use of GIS tools.
Unlike the wider frequency range of the traditional seismic accelerometers, the frequency range and the corresponding sensitivity of GPS observations are characterized by the dynamics of the internal signal tracking loops.
Li and Shen (2011) found that the horizontal components of gravity gradient changes exhibit positive-negative-positive features due to the mass variations of a large thrusting earthquake and recommended a northern (latitude-direction) gravity gradient approach to detect the coseismic effects more efficiently due to the anisotropic sensitivity of GRACE observations.
This allows us to obtain refined estimates of the number density of O VII WHIM systems down to the O VII column density sensitivity of our observations, and most importantly, a measurement of the cosmological mass density ΩWHIMb in the WHIM, at redshift z < 0.361.
This is a strategy to try and improve the sensitivity of the observations rather than having the director ticking forms at the end of semester".
To evaluate the sensitivity of these observations to the cutoff expectation value used for the sequence comparisons (see Methods), we varied this cutoff over a range of six orders of magnitude for the E. coli proteins.
This BIC setup incorporates the information used in a typical atmospheric trace gas inverse model, i.e. the sensitivity of the observations to surface fluxes, the flux error covariances, and the model-data mismatch covariances, but we focused here only on identifying region-months that are detectable from the atmospheric observations, rather than on quantifying FFCO2 emissions per se.
