"Sensible employers are simply trying to mitigate the downsides of longer working hours.
It is a souped-up version of turning off office emails, itself something all sensible employers should insist on, as some do in Germany, but which most employees fear would be seen as a possibly lethal breach of commitment.
Even if your illness falls short of a qualifying disability under the Equality Act, most sensible employers faced with someone who is clearly suffering with ill-health should not be rushing into disciplinary action.
