This algorithm employs information on serial HIV-1 antibody testing, de-tuned EIA scores [25], [26], RNA PCR detection, HIV-1 protein western blot banding patterns and self reported risk behaviors to estimate time since infection.

Self-report Risk Scale (SRS): Because of the lack of available instruments, the SRS was constructed for this study to measure patients' judgment regarding their own subsequent risk of self-harming behavior [ 20].
