In this case, there were three segregation possibilities: loci that were homozygous for one parent and heterozygous for the other, segregation (1 1), and those that segregated in both parents (1 2 1 or 1 1 1 1).

Further work investigating the modes of inheritance in tetraploid rose progenies was performed by Koning-Boucoiran et al. Using a progeny from the cross P540 × P867 consisting of 184 genotypes, segregation of AFLP, nucleotide-binding site and SSR markers segregating in both simplex and duplex with both uniparental and biparental inheritance was scored.
From the complete set of markers an initial filtering was performed using SAS® 9.3 [ 85] (script, unpublished), to select those SNPs with Mendelian segregation for 1 1 if segregating only in one parent and 1 2 1 if segregating in both parents.
Based on segregation patterns, SNPs were categorized into three types: 1 : 2 : 1 type (AB × AB, segregating in both parents), 1 : 1 type (AB × AA or AB × BB, segregating only in female), and 1 : 1 type (AA × AB or BB × AB, segregating only in male).

In addition, DArT markers were designated by the enzyme combination used for complexity reduction (BamHI, MseI and RsaI: BMR or HindIII, MseI, RsaI: HMR), the 384-well plate number and the position of the fragment in that plate (i.e., AHMR_04I09).
