It feels too artfully contrived to be a documentary yet too casual and loping to count as fiction, and the two men play not themselves but lightly sauced versions of themselves — Coogan guying his one-upmanship and effortless lechery (we see a hotel receptionist slipping from his room in the small hours), and Brydon, the securely married man, claiming to exult in the calmness of lesser ambitions.
