I first estimate male and female elasticities for the entire sample, controlling for region and sector; next, I estimate elasticity for five regions and 12 sectors separately, shown in Table 4.8 For all Brazilian workers in 2001, elasticity differences imply a gender earnings gap that closely resembles the actual earnings gap.
