A case study from industry has been selected where it was observed that work hardening of machined surface leads to distortion of thin sections of the component.
Immunohistochemical staining of tumour sections for the components of ECM; fibronectin and laminin, showed that in contrast to MCF7S1 tumours, MCF7S1 + HMF3s tumours contained an extremely well-developed ECM (Fig. 6A).
With the system, users can use the functions of current CAD graphic software to build CAD models for their multi heterogeneous components designed and display both material and geometric information for any cross-section of the components they select.

The record section of the vertical-component velocity traces (Fig. 11) at the station locations of High Sensitivity Seismograph Network Japan (Hi-net) operated by National Research Institute for Earth Science and Disaster Resilience (Okada et al. 2004) shows very complicated waves as a result of propagation in the heterogeneous structure.
Finally, the application of the developed homogenization scheme allows the prediction of the distribution of effective mechanical properties over the component thickness in different sections of the staggered component.
