Norman Golb's 1995 book, "Who Wrote the Dead Sea Scrolls?" included a long chapter criticizing Dr. Schiffman's scholarship and accusing him of lifting ideas without credit.

Some of the most fascinating scrolls included an ancient history of west Africa, the Tarikh al-Soudan, letters of recommendation for the intrepid 19th-century German explorer Heinrich Barth, and a text dealing with erectile dysfunction.
Most of the scrolls, including the first one unwrapped by Piaggio, "On Music, Book 4," were written by the same person — a minor Greek poet and philosopher named Philodemus.
An underground multimedia exposition of six centuries of history, it will present a special exhibit from June 17 to Nov. 2 in collaboration with the Israel Museum: "Archaeology and the Bible From King David to the Dead Sea Scrolls," including three important scrolls discovered on the shores of the Dead Sea.
