In scholarly libraries, assistance to readers once was generally limited to explaining the layout of the library and the use of the catalog; in universities, members of the faculty would have been expected to know the literature of their subject better than any librarian.
This study investigates the visibility of librarians as authors in scholarly higher education (HE) and teaching and learning (TL) journals between 2000 and 2012.
The site will also host a growing collection of scholarly essays, and interviews with the Oxford and Vatican librarians, and the Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby, who said the digitisation was of huge international significance.
The two writers will each receive $50,000 and collaborate with Columbia librarians to create Web sites featuring scholarly articles and discussion relating to the content of the plays.
These librarians are encouraged to adopt a scholarly approach to the implementation of informed learning in higher education settings and share the results of their investigations through peer-reviewed publication.
With expert librarian help, we will identify reviews, scholarly commentaries, models of good practice and examples of (alleged) misapplication of realist evaluation.
Despite the university's cheery press release — "Northwestern has reaffirmed its commitment to publishing and disseminating scholarly writing" — and assurances by Sarah M. Pritchard, the librarian who oversees the press, that the publication "is certainly continuing" (as she told the Chronicle of Higher Ed last week), the news was heralded as a death sentence by the literary community.
