Normalization is a very important part of preprocessing as it attempts to minimize the effects of source power fluctuations (MIR radiation source), scattering, variations in sample thickness etc. Normalization attempts to simultaneously correct for various shifting and scaling effects caused by the above mentioned phenomena.
Scattering variations in normal tissue: our analysis showed that scattering increased as fibrous content increased and adipose content decreased, within normal tissue types consistent with previous studies.
