In a topical bit of scaremongering a Texas-based think-tank, Stratfor, has voiced fears that the drug-related mayhem engulfing parts of Mexico could end in state collapse.
It's hardly a secret that David Cameron has made his own mind up about bombing northern Syria – so why not engage in a bit of scaremongering to bolster support?
Jason Reitman's adaptation of Chad Kultgen's 2011 novel of the same name is probably a bit too scaremongering for parents in this cautionary tale over the perils of using the internet where the message is pretty much "all roads lead to sex".
"This word 'bubble' does seem a bit crazy and it's kind of scaremongering from my opinion, but there is a frenzy, and I think people are making quite rash decisions," says Ms Kelly.
A bit of a reach, perhaps, but far less so than the usual scaremongering articles.
Daryl Stanford, director of Hop Fuzz brewery in Hythe, Kent, said: "I've actually had a change of heart on fracking, I've done a bit of research on it... and it's really just shrouded in a lot of myths and scaremongering.
But how much of that is true, and how much is scaremongering by a conservative press that just doesn't want you getting your bits damp?
