The KQoL-26 physical functioning and activity limitations scales had the largest correlations with the SF-36 scales of physical functioning, social functioning, bodily pain and role-physical.
Our patient's scores compared favorably in the domains of social functioning and mental health but were below the population norms across the remaining scales of physical functioning.
The KQoL-26 shows an improvement of 16.41, 23.38 and 23.46 points on scales of physical functioning, emotional functioning and activity limitations respectively.
The SF-36 scales of physical functioning, role-physical, bodily pain and general health were assessed pre- and post-TC program were used to provide an overall summary measure of self-reported physical health [ 20].
Finally, the number of sitting hours showed a gradual and inverse relation with the score on the scales of physical functioning, physical role, bodily pain, vitality, social functioning and mental health.
This measure has 36 questions grouped into 8 domains or scales of physical functioning, role limitations due to physical health, bodily pain, general health perception, social functioning, and role limitations due to emotional problems, vitality, and mental health [ 26, 27].
The association was clinically relevant (regression coefficients > 3) and statistically significant (p < 0.05) for the scales of physical functioning, physical role, bodily pain, vitality, social functioning and emotional role.
The CIRS correlation coefficients were significantly different from those of the FCI for the SF-36 scales of Physical Functioning, Role Physical and Social Functioning as well as for the Physical Component Summary; whereas the Charlson correlation coefficients were significantly different from those of CIRS for all SF-36 scales.
Our results are consistent with these studies, since improvements were observed on the mental scales from the first quartile of LTPA, whereas for the scales of physical functioning and physical role clinically relevant effects are not seen until the third quartile (table 2).
