If reduced sample exploration caused the apparent NOR impairment, both doses should have decreased NOR.

Sample exploration times were measured in P301S mice and age-matched control mice at 1 M, 2 M and 3 M olds.
These problems include the need to give careful consideration to whether the initial sample exploration phase (Fig. 1C) is affected by the manipulation under investigation.
This same pattern of normal sample exploration levels prior to recognition testing has also been reported for Y maze tasks (Bartko et al., 2007a, 2007b; McTighe et al., 2010; Winters et al., 2004).
Normal levels of initial sample exploration by rats with perirhinal lesions have been repeatedly reported despite subsequent recognition deficits (Aggleton et al., 1997; Albasser et al., 2009; Barker et al., 2007, 2011; Ennaceur et al., 1996; Moran & Dalrymple-Alford, 2003; Mumby et al., 2007).
Future work in this area should involve analysis of larger multiethnic samples, exploration for relevant determinants and markers of IGF1 levels in the blood, in order to resolve the issue of causal involvement of IGF1 in the aetiology of postmenopausal breast cancer.
Typically, PRh lesions do not alter rates of sample exploration (Ennaceur et al., 1996; Aggleton et al., 1997; Moran & Dalrymple-Alford, 2003; Winters et al., 2004; Bartko et al., 2007a, b; Mumby et al., 2007; Albasser et al., 2009; McTighe et al., 2010), i.e. these findings accord with those of the present study.
The construct validity was established by means of confirmatory factor analysis of two samples: (1) an exploration sample, and (2) a cross-validation sample.
