2. Each patient will be asked to complete the IPSS questionnaire - a validated lower urinary tract symptom questionnaire (Additional file 3). 3. DRE followed by a urine sample will be provided for storage (Additional file 4).
The sampling frame will be provided by the Department (ie, their list of primary schools).
Some small sample toy examples will be provided in the next section in order to illustrate the process followed by some real data examples.
Immediately following sampling, the participants will be provided with breakfast in the school canteen.
Sample size calculations for SPIN trials will be determined for each SPIN trial separately, and the appropriate sample size calculations will be provided in all trial protocols.
To ensure adequate quality and consistency of samples, centralized hands-on training will be provided and samples will be assessed on an ongoing basis.
Subjects will be instructed on proper methods for stool sample collection and all materials will be provided in a convenient specimen collection kit.
Materials will be provided and sample rubbings will be on display.
Patients do not receive a financial incentive, but the stool sampling material and the faecal calprotectin test will be provided for free.
