While we have found that it is possible in some circumstances to obtain excellent results by measurement of samples that contribute more than ca. 1/3 to the total heat capacity, there is no "ideal" sample mass and sample geometry also is an important consideration.
Moreover, samples that contribute most to a given cluster have more extreme, more tightly-clustered expression values; samples that contribute little to a given cluster have expression values (and contributions) closer to zero with greater variability.

Figure 1 outlines this study and the numbers of samples that contributed to each phase.
Samples that contributed to the FTPR generated high quality peak data in 136, 154 and 171 assays.
On the other hand, the main samples that contributed to the second PC are 43 48, 52 54, 61 81, 88 105, 109 120, which are young rosetta leaves (see Supplementary Table 1 for sample descriptions by sample index).

In Figure 4A, the first three ions (i.e., a, b, and c) in the bottom left corner of the "S" are the ions from the raw R. palmatum sample that contributed the greatest difference observed in the data between the raw and processed R. palmatum.
We used a Gaussian weighting procedure with a local mean estimator that required a minimum average neighborhood size (i.e., the number of sample units that contribute to an estimate of the response variable at each point. We used 5% of the sample size).
However, these buffer-defined variables can limit the fraction of sampling points that contribute to parameter estimation where there is heterogeneity in source distribution at sub-domain scales (e.g., Class 1 roadways in our domain).
The number of test sample p-value that contribute to the final Kolmogorov-Smirnov test for the uniformity of the distribution of p-values of the test statistic is a variable with default 100, which is much larger than most diehard default values.
Data were obtained from Solucient's ACTracker® database, a sample of hospitals that contribute general discharge-level information, in addition to specific drug and laboratory information.
