Cescato et al. performed in vitro autoradiography on several sstr2-positive primary tumor samples, including breast carcinomas, and suggested that the antagonist 177Lu-DOTA-BASS bound to more sites on the tumor samples than the agonist 177Lu-DOTATATE (Cescato et al. 2011).
To proof that hypermethylation pattern in plasma cfDNA of breast cancer patients is derived from tumor tissue, triple matched samples including breast cancerous tissue, matched normal tissue and serum samples were analyzed.
Most previous studies on PTG and BF were based on samples including breast cancer or mixed cancer sites with assessments of PTG and BF in the first 2 3 years after diagnosis.

In order to investigate the potential relationships between miRNA and lincRNA, we used RNA-seq data from 20 samples, including 10 breast tumor samples, and 10 breast tissues from healthy pre-menopausal volunteers with no history of disease; these normal tissues were obtained from the Susan G. Komen for the Cure® Tissue Bank at the IU Simon Cancer Center.
For sporadic breast cancer, a variety of changes in DNA methylation were detected in primary cancer samples, including the breast cancer susceptibility genes BRCA1/2; however, epigenetic markers in biological fluids have previously lacked the sensitivity and specificity seen in other cancer types (25 27).
Of these, 113 samples, including 40 breast cancer patients and 73 healthy control individuals (Table 1), were used for the discovery and pre-validation phases of this study.
