In general, there was a time trend post surgery with the samples immediately postoperatively (orange circles) migrating in the first principal component (PC) with the 6-hour (yellow) and 24-hour (green) samples differentiating from the preoperative samples in the second PC.
Szafranska et al (2008b) reported that miRNA analysis from fresh FNA biopsy samples differentiated malignant from benign PC tissues.
We found that although the NET2011 sample was significantly differentiated from earlier samples at the same site, it was not differentiated from other Dutch populations (NLH2010 and NLB2010) and French populations (FRS2010, and FRC2010 only in Dest) sampled in 2010 (Table 5).
The largest differences among temporal samples was seen in the NET population, in which the 2011 sample was significantly differentiated from the two previous samples (2009 and 2010), which did not differ from each other (FST and Dest).
Within the North Sea, NS1 samples were significantly differentiated from some of the near-shore North Sea and English Channel samples in some of the years (Fig. 3).
Based on FST, the historical Bexar and Kerr samples were not differentiated, whereas the Oklahoma sample was significantly differentiated from Kerr (Table 4).
The three north-eastern samples, Kunmadaras, Kaba, and Bekes, were genetically differentiated from two central samples (Vrbas and Sajkas) and three western samples (Bokod, Sarbogard, and Vardomb) (Table S3).
Interestingly, these very samples were never grouped with M. m. musculus for K = 4, and some of the heterogeneity was carried by M. m. domesticus in three runs where possibly the occidental samples of this subspecies differentiated from the oriental ones.
Pairwise Φst values among sampling localities showed that the majority of sampling sites are significantly differentiated from each other for both the nuclear and mtDNA data (Table 3).
In C. sphinx, significant genetic differentiation was detected (global exact test, P<0.05) with pairwise values indicating that this is caused by the population sampled at Mandiyoor which was consistently differentiated from all other colonies sampled in China and Vietnam (P<0.05).
