I recently toured a dozen or so Web sites -- some having to do with travel, some not -- sampling the discourse and the technology while on my quest for whale mavens who could steer me toward more close encounters of the cetaceous variety.
The results from the assessment of three sample classroom discourses using EQUIP and TIR by the coders mostly agreed with the CDAT coding results.

Rather than discussing the overarching ideological systems that supersede the other levels of analysis or the diachronic historical processes and manifestations of ideology that have informed the lexicogrammatical choices made by various individuals, each discourse sample needs to be analysed within the immediate contextual parameters (Halliday 2002).
Halliday's system of transitivity, which is used by individuals to describe 'what is going on' in a particular discourse sample and which seems to play an important role in power configurations, may be represented by choosing material processes (action, event or transaction), relational processes, and so on, creating various 'issues of representation'.
Because these gestural indicators are noted from a sample of narrative discourse, they provide clinicians with an efficient means of detecting intact semantic knowledge.
