Unless shown to be different, the gene paralogs share the same interactions as the parent gene.
Analysis of known interactions between STAT5A and the genes from the master network showed that STAT5A share almost the same interactions as STAT5B except for CCND1, CCR5, ERBB2, HEXA, PPARA, PTK2B, TGFB1 and THRB (data not shown).
By comparison, Arg-617 of chain A forms the same interactions as in dimer C/D, but the side chain of Arg-617 of chain B is disordered (Fig. 4D).

This work has prompted studies of vertebrate Shugoshin-like proteins to show that they are involved in the same interactions as in S. pombe (Salic et al. 2004; Kitajima et al. 2005) and in chromosomal instability associated with various forms of cancer (Kahyo et al. 2011; Yamada et al. 2012).

Figure 2b illustrates the competition between three species having the same interaction parameters as in Fig. 2a but different washout values, D W X ; the effect of changing the washout values within the experimentally observed range produces small but significant changes, especially when the flow rates, D, through the chemostat approach the washout values.
