Her mother is a health and safety instructor for the American Red Cross in White Plains.
Ms. Flood, who has spent 40 years in the aquatic business, is an American Red Cross certified water safety instructor and lifeguard trainer.
"We are not really used to working in a very safe manner," said Dan Garcia, a roofer and safety instructor in Santa Clara, Calif.
"I would never drive into London in a car," she said after she took a test drive following Mr. Collins, the safety instructor.
Mr. Graham, a health and safety instructor for the New York District Council of Carpenters, takes medication, including steroids for his chronic cough, and goes to therapy because he still dodges falling bodies in his nightmares.

"They're easy to steal, and I haven't seen much increased security since Sept. 11," said Robert Baron, an aviation safety instructor who runs a consulting firm in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. "People really have no idea how vulnerable general aviation is right now".
