With term limits forcing a legion of elective officials from office, more than 150 candidates are preparing to run for posts that include mayor, public advocate, comptroller, borough president and 36 contested City Council seats.
The ruling on Monday involved two candidates running for posts on the Board of Selectmen in Falls Village in 1997.
That would be Tinsley Mortimer: the 32-year-old charity-ball staple, model and handbag designer for the Japanese label Samantha Thavasa, "beauty ambassador" for Dior, Women's Wear Daily fixture, all-around bombshell, and — if attendance is what counts — consensus choice three years running for post-deb of the year.
In April, the prime minister and 22 other ministers retired from their military posts to run for office as civilians.
Not for president of the United States — he declined to run for that post last year.
One, the Liberal Democrat Stephen Williams, says he may run for the post himself.
The former schools secretary Ed Balls is also likely to run for the post.
On Thursday, former Mayor Maynard H. Jackson of Atlanta said he would also run for the post.
The acting sheriff has given up his job as boss of the county police to run for the post.
Albio Sires, the speaker of the Assembly, from West New York, announced his intention to run for the post next year.
