The major governing parameters of the present flow configuration are the rotational Reynolds number (ReΩ≡ΩR02/ν), the rotating rate-ratio of two disks (Γ≡Ω2/Ω1), and the gap-ratio G≡S/R0 with the ranges of 4.7×103⩽ReΩ⩽14.1×104, −1.2⩽Γ⩽1.2, and 0.08⩽G⩽0.133.
Similarly rotating rate of deformation patterns (strain-rate, red: contracting, blue: dilating) could be observed on the surface and at midwall.
