A Rotate button assists with righting photos that appear rotated 90 degrees (either because you turned the camera or because you yourself were horizontal).
(The Rotate button? Not the Back button?) You have a choice of eight type sizes.
Alas, there's only one Rotate button; if you have it set to turn the photo counterclockwise, then rotating a photo clockwise means having to press the Rotate button three times.
To get to your master list of books, you're supposed to hold down the Rotate button for three seconds.
Everything the accelerometer did in the first version of the iPhone operating system could have been replaced with a single "rotate" button, but it wasn't, because that would have been terrible.
