Another typical example of PET scan with extremelly low counts (< 105 true events) is a dosimetry scan right after hadron therapy.
The irradiation geometry and experimental dosimetry for rats irradiated in the right caudate nucleus are shown in Fig. 1.
Although in the Fricke dosimetry, optical density measurements are made normally right after the irradiation, the knowledge of the Fe+3 diffusion coefficient of this dosimeter is interesting, in order to control the spatial absorbed dose distribution, inferred from the absorbances.
