Meanwhile Amec added 15p to 876p after BP, Shell, ConocoPhillips and Chevron appointed the company to deliver project management services for the Clair Ridge project west of Shetland.
BP said it remained committed to the North Sea, and is investing $4bn in North Sea oil and gas, including the new Clair Ridge project and the redevelopment of the Schiehallion and Loyal fields, west of the Shetland Islands.

The Barren Ridge project delivers 1,000 megawatts of solar and wind energy — enough to power 25,000 L.A. homes.
There has been no protest to our Asphalt Ridge project in Utah to date because we emit nothing to the air or soil and there is no water to discard.
"There's a great misconception that there's a bunch of crazy environmentalists running around in Huntington Beach, but the majority of voters in the city, if they had a chance, would not have approved the Ridge project themselves," Shaw said.
