According to prior research, in developed countries, motorcycle ownership is greatly dependent on a rider's personal characteristics and purchasing cost [63].
The results of the survey provide information about: the population of bicyclists; selected characteristics of riders (e.g., age, gender, experience); bicycle use patterns (how much and where bicycles are ridden); helmet usage patterns; and the demographic characteristics of rider households.

The findings indicate that efforts to improve cyclist safety during overtaking events should focus on non-rider related factors, such as roadway infrastructure characteristics.
Nevertheless, our results add support for road safety interventions that aim to find a right match for road safety messages, measures, or incentives and the unique characteristics of groups of risky riders.
