In charting my career trajectory, I found that the most important question to ask was, "What kind of organization would make for a satisfying career choice?" Each sector offers its own challenges and opportunities, and all sectors have rewarding career opportunities.
Nobody in the private sector was rewarding virtue two years ago.
"Five or seven years ago, the private sector started rewarding providers that got their patients' chronic conditions like diabetes and asthma under control," Ms. Davis said.
Through this relationship, "we aim to encourage more MBA graduates to pursue rewarding careers in the sector, working with British designers to assist them in fulfilling their potential for growth," said Rush.
This shows that more attention still need to be focused at understanding and developing the rural non-farm sector in Nigeria to make activities in the sector much more rewarding and attractive to the unemployed/underemployed youths and landless households.
So what is keeping women from applying for the thousands of rewarding jobs available in the sector?
In our experience, the more closely you work with the sector, the more rewarding it can be for both parties.
It might not be financially rewarding – especially in the editorial sector – but the travelling that sometimes accompanies interesting assignments can make up for it.
"Having the opportunity to make a real difference to the lives of individuals in the education sector is highly rewarding," she says.
We also need to worry about whether science careers in any sector are sufficiently rewarding, remunerative, and stable to justify the long time investment, the frustrations of training, and the forgone earnings; if they're not, we can't expect the most capable young people to choose careers in science.
