The upward revisions to job growth, in particular, encouraged traders on Wall Street, sending the Dow Jones industrial average over 14,000 for the first time since 2007.
"The Fed is well aware of that and so they are going to take that into account when they look at the August number and say that we would not be surprised to see some upward revisions to job growth in August," said Faucher.
More grim news came from the downward revisions in job gains in April and May.
Also, the revisions to jobs figures can be fairly substantial.
However, the report also included a big upward revision to job growth in the private sector in March (to 374,000) and April (to 296,000), suggesting that the reality of the labour market is neither as taut as April's numbers suggest nor as weak as May's imply.
The labour market's performance in the third quarter now also looks better than previously believed, thanks to upward revisions for jobs growth for July and August.
Not only do the latest figures show jobs being created apace, but new statistical revisions suggest that job growth has been stronger for longer than many had thought.Almost 1m jobs were created between March and May, the fastest increase since the giddy days of early 2000.
The revisions pushed average job growth in the first quarter to 171,000 a month, the most vigorous rate since the second quarter of 2000, shortly after the dot-com bubble burst.
It hasn't been talked about much, but this Thursday the Labor Department will release its annual revisions to the job figures, covering the period from April, 2010, to December, 2011.
