A retrospective study was made of revision interventions for polyethylene wear carried out between 1988 and 1990, in which the primary prosthesis was an impacted porous cup and an AML® (Depuy) femoral stem.
Patients expressed a requirement for more supportive interventions both during revision treatment (eg, counselling and peer support), and in the longer term (eg, physical rehabilitation and reassurance/active monitoring) as the impact of PJI can persist long after surgical treatment.
After several rounds of assessment and revision, the intervention was judged acceptable by patients and was used in the study.
The purpose of this study was to assess the effect of 2 revision reconstructive interventions on patellofemoral joint mechanics in comparison to control.
Quadriceps tendon extensor force and patellar kinematics were recorded for control total knee arthroplasty (TKA) (normal primary TKA with patella resurfaced) and then for each of the 2 revision patellar interventions (after patelloplasty of typical revision knee patellar bone defect to leave a simple bony shell, and after TKA with augmentation patella resurfacing).
There were 128 follow-up and 12 revision/re-intervention forms completeable (3 revisions, 8 new interventions, 1 combined revision and new intervention), with a mean time of 119 days for the follow-ups (range 3 468 days) and 48 days for the revisions (range 10 141 days).

The perspectives offered by URM students, as captured in transcripts from 24 individual interviews and one focus-group interview centering on the evaluation and revision of existing intervention programs in which the students participate, provide a critical contribution to ongoing conversations regarding underrepresentation in the sciences.
