Incubation of isolated CD4+CD25+ T cells with an equal number of isolated CD4+CD25− was sufficient to reverse susceptibility of the former to spontaneous apoptosis (Figure 2C) and to restore balanced sensitivity to apoptosis characteristic of mixed cultures (Figure 1A).
The recovery of cellular immunity with HAART may partially reverse susceptibility to opportunistic infections when it achieves sustained undetectable levels of HIV-RNA and CD4+ levels above 500 cells/mm over a long period of time [ 9, 11].

However, this outcome did not change the viability of Hep3B cells neither under normoxic nor hypoxic conditions (102.1%±3.8 and 96.6%±5.5 respectively, examined by MTT, compared to Hep3B cells transfected with control siRNA, 97.5%±5.4 and 95.7%±4.9, respectively), although the siRNA against GD3 synthase reversed the susceptibility of Hep3B-GD3 cells to hypoxia.
