Privately held magazine firm Ziff Davis Media said most of its bondholders had approved its financial restructuring, enabling the embattled publisher of PC Magazine and Electronic Gaming Monthly to avoid filing for bankruptcy.
"Today, we announced a restructuring enabling us to optimize our cost base in lower growth areas of our portfolio and further invest in key priority areas such as security, IoT, collaboration, next generation data center and cloud," the company said in a statement.
"Our decision to initiate a court-supervised restructuring will enable us to address our immediate liquidity issues, restructure our balance sheet and correct structural issues including reducing our high occupancy costs and restoring compliance with our debt covenants," the chief executive, Sheree Waterson, told Fortune.
The restructuring will enable the firm's arms such as Nest – which makes home appliances – greater independence, Mr Page said.
