Downstream to the promoter region is the ACGT sequence that is required for etiolation induced expression of erd1 (early responsive to dehydration) gene in Arabidopsis (Simpson et al. 2003), hence it is speculated that OsHKT1 4 gene may regulate dehydration stress imposed by salinity.
We have developed an osmotically inducible system using three components of plant origin, RD29a (Responsive to Dehydration 29A) promoter, CBF3 (C-repeat Binding Factor 3) transcription factor and cpl1-2 (CTD phosphatase-like 1) mutation.

The early responsive to dehydration (ERD) gene is one of the key negative regulators of ABA responses in plants.
The DRE element was first identified in the promoter of rd29A, a gene responsive to dehydration stress in Arabidopsis [ 52].
This may be the case of golgi nucleotide sugar transporter GONST4 (cluster k-means 9, Figure 5A), which is involved in the provision of GDP-fucose and GDP-l galactose sugars into the Golgi for cell wall polysaccharide synthesis such as rhamnogalacturonan II and xyloglucan (Table 5), and ERDL6 (Early Responsive to Dehydration-Like 6) which functions as a vacuole glucose exporter (Table 5).
TDF125, TDF137, and TDF399 showed homology to EARLY-RESPONSIVE TO DEHYDRATION 3 (ERD4), ERD4, and ERD7, respectively.
Several proteins in plants also interact with the PABC domain, including PCI6 and PCI243 of cucumber and Arabidopsis ERD15 (early-responsive to dehydration), each of which contains an N-terminal PAM2 motif [ 57, 60, 61].
Interestingly, only three genes in the ubiquitin pathway - PHD finger family, EARLY-RESPONSIVE TO DEHYDRATION 16/UBIQUITIN ETENSION PROTEIN 1 (ERD16/ UBQ1) and SUPPRESOR OF NIM1-11 (SON1) were upregulated by Ox MYBR1.
Clusters 5 and 9 contained TDF103, TDF108, TDF107, TDF128, TDF151, TDF186, TDF232, TDF363, TDF399, TDF404, TDF482 and TDF494, which encoded protein kinases, phosphokinases, transcription factors, heat shock protein (HSP), early-responsive to dehydration (ERDs), and late embryonic proteins LEAs), respectively.
