Census block groups were categorized as minority or low income according to criteria for New York State urban areas and New York State urban poverty thresholds, respectively, outlined in the NYSDEC Environmental Justice and Permitting Policy (NYSDEC 2003).
These were then ranked into two groups based on the mass spectrometric profiles and the likelihood that these represent true mutations referred to as conservative and aggressive "calls" which comprised 10% (12/115) and 90% (103/115) of possible mutations, respectively (outlined in Figure 1 and Additional file 1 Table S2).

The quantities r1 and r2 are measures of the distances between the edge, and the transmitter and receiver, respectively, as outlined in Figure 7. Based on the wavelength λ of the carrier frequency, the propagation loss L ke can then be calculated using Fresnel integrals [35].
Additional clinical characteristics including airway hyperreactivity, lung function and atopic status were determined via methacholine challenge, spirometry and allergen skin test respectively as outlined previously [ 15].
The times at which subsequent infection and recovery events occurred and which individuals were affected were determined by the pairwise transmission parameters β jk (t) and by the recovery rates γ j (t), respectively, as outlined below.
Raw signal levels from consecutive measurements (n = 8) of a representative experiment after binding equilibrium of 0.7 nM [125I]-AB-MECA were clearly distinguishable and determined to be 39.51 ± 0.50, 43.82 ± 0.76 and 38.69 ± 0.52 for the cell pole and 8.55 ± 0.29, 7.41 ± 0.22 and 10.74 ± 0.52 for the reference pole, respectively, which is outlined in Fig. 2b.
The Zmax score (LOD) was calculated for the mother and father in each family, and combined across all mothers and fathers respectively using methods outlined in Ott [ 33].
These were taken from six of the eight opossum autosomes, since cytogenetic maps had previously been constructed for wallaby chromosomes 5 and 6q (corresponding to opossum chromosomes 4 and 7 respectively) using the strategy outlined above [ 30, 32].
Additionally, Statutory Instruments No. 87 of 1992 and No. 379 of 1998 establishing School Development Committees and School Development Associations respectively, were promulgated outlining the involvement of communities in the management of schools and provision of resources to improve the education service.
