The splitting of 2D band in the Raman spectra of SWCNTs was observed earlier [5, 10, 16] and was explained by the peculiarities of double electron-phonon resonance process providing different resonant conditions for resonances with different van Hove singularities (vHSs) of SWCNTs.
Upon post-synthesis heat treatment, the double resonance process got quenched due to defect healing.
Thus, in the considered resonance process, SWCNTs with diameters in the range of 1.20 1.79 nm are excited.
The D band was related to a double resonance process involving one phonon and one defect state of the sp2 carbon structure.
Both two bands can be from the double resonance process involving two phonons around the K-point in the phonon dispersion of a two-dimensional graphite.
Analyzing the various bands in Raman spectra, mostly the G (optical carbon carbon mode) and D (defect-related double resonance process) bands, is powerful at characterizing defects in disordered graphene-based carbons.

His thesis, on "The Resonance Processes in the Disintegration of Boron by Protons", formed the basis of a paper published in the Physical Review.
However, attributing resonance processes to the CRET phenomena awaits specific mechanistic studies aimed at understanding all possible energy contributions made by decaying PET isotopes in such energy transfer contexts.
In the Raman spectra, D peak (~1350 cm−1) and 2D peak (~2650 cm−1), in relation to the electronic and geometrical structures through the double-resonance process, were investigated.
