The current findings are mostly consistent with those from HIV-negative men where there was no difference in myocardial blood flow and MVO2 between obese and non-obese, insulin resistant men [ 28].
In that study, myocardial fatty acid utilization was slightly higher in the obese men; this was primarily driven by higher serum free fatty acid levels in the obese, insulin resistant men [ 28].
