The first 33 cities were announced in December and they will receive support to hire or fund a Chief Resilience Officer, technical support and access to resilience services to develop and implement a resilience plan, and innovative models to leverage billions in additional financing for the resilience projects they need.
Together, they bring a broad package of relief and resilience services to refugees and host communities.
"We are providing life-saving and resilience services to the newly arrived refugees, and we are striving to support local population with a comprehensive vision to meet UNICEF's Core Commitments for Children," stresses UNICEF Representative in Mauritania Lucia Elmi.
There is also the resilience the service can offer for customers and the assurance that mission-critical apps and their APIs can be watched and issues resolved before they become a major issue.
They have recognised that, if they cut funding too quickly, they could damage a critical element of their local civil society, diminish community resilience, reduce services for communities and individuals, and create further unintended pressures on their own scarce resources.
The NBS concept is closely related to other concepts including sustainability, resilience, ecosystem services, coupled human and environment, and green (blue) infrastructure; however, NBS represent a more efficient and cost-effective approach to development than traditional approaches.
Ordnance Survey (OS) helps the Cabinet Office provide resilience direct, a service which allows the emergency response community to access a platform, underpinned by OS location data, where real-time information is shared across their various organisations, helping them to respond faster and make more accurate decisions.
Councillor Neil Blake, cabinet member for resources at Aylesbury Vale, said: "We've been looking very carefully at what Dacorum has to offer to meet our needs and it could provide substantial savings in the long-term with additional benefits including improved service resilience and access to a wider set of skills and experience".
