Her work has been published in a number of scientific journals, including the Atmospheric Environment, Aerosol and Air Quality Research, Journal of Geophysical Research-Atmospheres, Geophysical Research Letters, Atmospheric Chemistry and Physics, and Polar Science.
In my group, that means providing a flexible research atmosphere, logical challenges, and previously tested and approved devices.
"We have to improve the scientific and research atmosphere, because it's important that we educate the scientists who can create new jobs for Michigan," says Trudy Huebner, a candidate for the University of Michigan Board of Regents.
"We're trying to foster an open research atmosphere," says Ed Penhoet, vice chairman of the California institute's oversight committee, which recently announced that any researchers who develop patented discoveries using state funds must share their patents with other state researchers.
The Cowles Foundation funds a regular influx of short term and long term academic visitors, post-docs, and doctoral students from other institutes, who contribute to the research atmosphere in econometrics and provide an additional intellectual resource for our own graduate students.
Akkina says, "Find the right research atmosphere.
Although she found the research atmosphere in Oxford generally "wonderful," she was disappointed to find that experimental physics seemed like a boys club in some respects.
"Generally, it seems to me that the research atmosphere is on an upward cusp, as enough critical mass continues to build in several disciplines," he says.

In addition to help recruiting a bilingual and bicultural field interviewer, community partners advocated for recruitment and data collection methods in community settings that promoted a more secure research atmosphere, and facilitated more open discourse between participants and the interviewer.
