To fully satisfy the design requirements, decision-making support is essential to correctly select the most appropriate design, materials, and manufacturing processes in the design and development of new engineering products.
The question of the "manner in which an existing software architecture affects requirements decision-making" is considered important in the research community; however, to our knowledge, this issue has not been scientifically explored.
Specific types of architectural effects on requirements decisions are identified, as are different aspects of the architecture together with the extent of their effects.
